Scenarios and Challenge Mode are Hey Monika's two core ways of practising - Scenarios are full, end-to-end client simulations covering a whole piece of work from first contact to completion, while Challenge Mode is shorter, targeted practice on a single skill at a chosen difficulty level. Most users move between both depending on whether they want the experience of working end to end through a client project, or focused repetition on a specific skill.
What Scenarios are for
A Scenario puts you in the position of working with a fictional client from start to finish - receiving documents, emails, sometimes voice messages, and working through the full task as you would for a real client. You often work in our custom accounting software (free for Hey Monika users) and interact with your clients via message (soon - email) and phonecalls. They're ideal for building overall confidence and judgement, not just technical accuracy.
What Challenge Mode is for
Challenge Mode strips away the client-relationship context and focuses purely on one skill - a bank reconciliation, a VAT calculation, a journal correction - at beginner, intermediate or advanced difficulty. It's ideal when you know exactly which skill you're weak on and want focused repetition.
Should you start with Hey Monika Scenarios or Challenges?
Complete beginners: start with a Basic Challenge Mode task to build basic confidence with the platform and a single skill.
Anyone with some technical knowledge already: try a beginner Scenario to see how skills combine in a realistic context.
Anyone preparing for a specific job: use Challenge Mode to drill the named skills in the job advert, then a Scenario closest to that role.
